Pontiac Wagon Train Announcement
We are very pleased to announce that there will be a Pontiac Wagon Train once again in 2012. Below is the latest information. The website will be updated also.
What we must stress at this time is that this is the last Wagon Train that this executive will produce. For several years now we have asked for more volunteers to step up to “learn the ropes” and take over but to no avail. The Wagon Train does not just run itself. It takes a tremendous amount of work to make it roll. We have had many, many successful Trains and wonderful holidays and hope that the Pontiac Wagon Train will continue. However, unless there are new volunteers willing to take the reins/lines, this could be the end of an era. Please talk to your friends, travelling partners or family. Step up, form a new committee, and keep us rolling.
Location: Starks Corners, Quebec
Date: July 29th 2012 registration
Ride Days: July 30th-Aug 3rd inclusive (Aug 1st optional morning ride only or choose to rest)
All the rules and regulations are posted on the website. Please refresh your memories and be prepared properly. We are not having the Events Day as in the past few years, but have replaced it with an optional short morning ride.
If you have questions you may contact Karen King, 819 743 9005 or feeblewhinney@picanoc.ca or Barbra Newbury, Johnny_b_ranch@xplornet.com
Your 2012 Executive:
Karen King, President
Barbra Newbury, Secretary
Linda Ledbetter, Treasurer
Rene Corbeil and Michel Lafleche, Trail Coordinators
Mike Kelly and Jean Lefevbre, Safety Inspectors
There will NOT be an outside food vendor for the 2012 Train. Food will be the responsibility of the individual participants. There is a Valu Mart in Shawville, a 10 minute drive plus several restaurants and convenience stores. Renfrew is a full service city and is less than one half hour’s drive. We suggest getting together with others you know who are attending and making group arrangements for cooking. Barbecues are allowed but no open fires.
Regarding Mandatory Insurance : The Pontiac Wagon Train has become a member of Quebec a Cheval. This is an organization similar to the Ontario Equestrian Federation but is based on the regulations of the Province of Quebec. The great part of our joining the association is that as individual members, each of you can join with a special insurance only membership. This insurance coverage is for a full year and will give each of you the adequate insurance for the horse related activities. Most of the home owner policies that you may now have do have limitations when it comes to activities that you may do off the premises with you animals.
The best part of all is that it will only cost you $10.00 because you are Pontiac Wagon Train members. Quebec a Cheval offers a total membership package with magazine publications and clinic opportunities as well however, the written documentation is in French only at this point. The clinics are offered bilingual. You can check their web site for more information at www.cheval.qc.ca. The Pontiac Wagon Train committee strongly suggests that each of you take advantage of this incredible offer, as you are all well aware you can never have enough insurance and in this particular case it is tailored to the horse industry.
